It is probably the enticing nature of the game, which has made cricket a household name across the world, and there are no indications of its popularity waning with time. Both national and regional squads make up Indian cricket. Each region in India has its own regional cricket teams who compete with each other in tournaments like the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the biggest cricket authority for India – it bears the obligation of selection of national team and also undertake all other decisions involving sponsorship and role determination of every player in national cricket squad. Over and above the BCCI, each region also has a cricket controlling authority that carries the duty of training and grooming players for future roles. No doubt, these region level cricket governments play a vital role in determining future of national squad – in fact our team has now get many young and energetic participants like Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh and Pathan with the effort of these region level authorities only.

Indian cricket team got approval as test squad in 1932 that was a subject of great honor for every Indian and in the same year, the squad played its initial test cricket match against England at Lords and really established their potential as a good test squad. Since then, there has been no looking back for India and the country has surged ahead making and bettering various international records. Plus, India won the cricket world cup in 1983 and T-20 world cup few months back this year with its initial test victory against England at Madras in 1952. Later on in the year, the Indian squad won the first test series against Pakistan. This was 1 of the most memorable moments for the country and cricket history and the squad kept on improving their performance through the ten years.

In 1971 the arrival of one day international cricket shaped a new property to the cricket world. Unfortunately was not a good playing team during the initial 1-day internationals which meant that the country lost several games and hence could not qualify for the second round of the first two cricket world cups.
